I'm not sure where to put this, since I'm willing to buy one and I have some tech questions, so please move it if it doesn't belong here. I'm looking for a laptop with a 12.1 inch or smaller screen (will except up to 14 if necessary) with at least 1gb of ram (500mb minimum), a 1.6 ghz processor or better and built in rs-232 serial and parallel ports and a pcmcia slot if possible. I'm looking on ebay and having a problem finding one, since most require port replicators. I've got an HP Pavilion ze5385us, which is large (15 inches) and really heavy, (7.5 lb.) but which has parallel (no serial), pcmcia, floppy, cd rom, 56k modem, ethernet and wireless all built-in and it's got a 2.66 ghz processor. The only thing is, the power cord won't connect properly, so the battery won't charge and it turns off after a little while of use. Someone said that there was a problem with the motherboard connector. It also used to get really hot when I'd use it. So yeah, I want something smaller and lighter (five lb.. or less) but don't want to give up my ports and slots, especially if I partition the new machine for use with Windows XP and DOS. I don't mind whether it has a cd rom or usb ports built in, though floppy, modem, ethernet and/or wireless would be really nice extras.
